Abstract

Since the early 1990s, the return of the Kazakhs of Mongolia to the mass Atameken has been a unique example for studying the process of adaptation to migration. The scientific article examines the social adaptation of the Kandas from Mongolia based on the theory of migration adaptation and examines their economic and economic integration. The main focus is on how the traditional animal husbandry skills acquired in Mongolia influenced (or did not affect) successful adaptation to a rural environment and further social mobility, including moving to the city. Rural settlements of the Akmola region and the city of Astana, where the Kandases moved after the initial settlement, were taken as the geography of the study.

Structure of the article: first, the theoretical basis of adaptation to migration is presented. Then the historical context of Kazakh migration from Mongolia is described and economic adaptation in rural areas is analyzed. The urban mobility of the Candace is also being considered. In the last parts of the article, conclusions are drawn regarding the hypothesis being tested and recommendations on migration policy, and interview questions with native residents are offered as an appendix.

This approach allows for a comprehensive assessment of whether the economic skills developed in Mongolia can really be the key to successful adaptation and high social mobility.
