Abstract

This article addresses the methodological and practical aspects of processing and analyzing qualitative data using the MAXQDA software. The relevance of the study stems from a contradiction between the steady growth in the application of qualitative methodology in contemporary sociology, including in Kazakhstan, and the persistent lack of transparency in the procedures for processing, coding, and interpreting collected data. The aim of the article is to present a sequence of analytical actions formed at the intersection of theoretical approaches to qualitative analysis, the capabilities of the MAXQDA software environment, and practical research experience. Using the example of a MAXQDA demonstration project, the article examines the transition from an individual informant's statement to a subcode and further to a generalized category, while also outlining the analytical capabilities of the program. Particular attention is given to the problem of moving from coding to interpretation.
